That is also correct. In the north, it is often done on the masonry. In the south, it is almost always on the window frame.

And by the way, it looks good!!!

how does it work with shutters, do you have to open every window every evening and close the shutters by hand?

Exactly, the shutters can be opened and closed from the inside with a crank. They could also be controlled electrically (but we don't have that).
