A new building was just described in the newspaper, in which the air exchange is controlled by window rebate ventilation.

Is this sensible as a replacement for controlled supply and exhaust ventilation, and does it serve to prevent mold?

How exactly does it work?

In my opinion, this is standard today if you do not use a controlled residential ventilation system....

Think about it yourself: You build a house and have to invest tens of thousands of euros to insulate it legally and make your house airtight. And now you install windows with holes so that fresh air can freely enter the house again. Does that make sense to you?

Yes, that sounds schizophrenic. But you have to do something to avoid getting moldy. And there are very divided opinions about ventilation systems. With [Stoßlüften] warm air also escapes.

There are holes in the insulated windows. The air circulates randomly and uncontrolled. That basically says it all.
