Window RAL installation - insulating roller guide rails?

Hello everyone,

on our side, the site managers and experts do not agree on how and whether the roller shutter tracks should be insulated. We have brick masonry without ETICS. According to the site manager, the APU profile will be installed on the outside, but behind it up to the actual window should not be insulated, meaning the area of the roller shutter track.

What do you think?

I actually think so too. Both insist on their opinion. I can't really find anything online, mainly only about the installation of the windows themselves. Without blinds, it's nothing... ;)

According to RAL, the roller shutter guide rail does not need to be insulated. However, it does no harm either. What is important here as well is that it is diffusion-open to the outside and diffusion-tight to the inside.

Site manager said he could still inject foam behind and then put the APU strip on. Is that going to be okay?

As long as the foam is approved according to RAL installation and it does not come into contact with the sun unless it is suitable for that, yes. But that would only be to ease your conscience. It has a certain insulating effect, but it probably won't make much of a difference in the end.
