Attached are 3 photos of the bottom edge of the window and the bottom edge of the frame.

In the photo, 3 mushroom heads can be seen and on the frame 2 fittings. The fitting on the left looks different from the one on the right. What was done here?

Attention, only trained knowledge:

It depends on what was ordered. The fitting on the right is for the mushroom cams. The one on the left is just a guide to pull the window closed.

In the standard version, there are usually 4 mushroom cams, the rest are "normal" locking pins and sliders.

The mushroom cams have manufacturing-related rebate clearance tolerances. Therefore, using only mushroom cams would cause the fittings to wear out quickly or be very difficult to open.

I had actually only ordered 2 mushroom head locks per window. Therefore, I was surprised why so many mushroom heads were installed on almost all windows.

I. Does this consequently mean that many mushroom head locks make the window difficult to close?

II. Can the burglary protection be improved simply by replacing the left fitting (with one as shown on the right in the picture)?

Thank you in advance.

Also only learned knowledge again:

1. Yes, since the adjustment effort increases and you achieve two points in which the window is then fixed when they are aligned.

In other words: if there is only one mushroom head per side, the sash can be "pulled tight" by the sliders since only one point, namely the mushroom head, is fixed. This is called fixed or sliding support in statics.

If you have two fixed supports (mushroom heads) on one line, the window can only move along this line. Meaning, only when this is 1000% correctly adjusted will the window close tightly. Any deviations, such as manufacturing tolerances or normal wear, lead to the window sash becoming leaky.

2. Yes, what it does bring, however, is the increased adjustment effort as explained in point 1.

Mushroom heads are generally installed in the sash. In the past, standard roll pins were used for standard windows and mushroom head locks for windows with security requirements. For reasons of standardization, this is no longer done today. Standard strike plates and security strike plates are installed in the frame (according to the photo). The front two mushroom heads are moved to the left or right depending on whether the sash is tilted or closed. This means that one of the pins locks from the side into the security strike plate. The rotational position is in the middle – no mushroom head locks into the security strike plate. Due to the shape of the mushroom head, it cannot or can only be difficultly levered out of the security strike plate. It can be quite easily levered out via the locked standard strike plate.

You certainly have another security strike plate on the handle side at the top or top front. Everything on your windows is in order and as it should be.

Yes, the more security strike plates instead of standard strike plates, the greater the protection against burglary. However, the required force increases somewhat due to the friction. The mushroom pins installed in your window are movable to compensate for any rebate tolerances.
