Window installation WDVS - When can the window fitter take measurements?

Hello forum,

we are currently having a house built.

The shell is up, the brick/cladding is almost finished.

It is built of calcium silicate bricks and in the upper third an ETICS with plaster is to be applied, the lower 2/3 are clad with bricks.

I was told the window installer can only measure once the cladding is completely on.

Does the ETICS on top also have to be in place first, or can the windows be measured and installed beforehand?

Does that mean: ground floor completely brick-faced, upper floor plaster façade from parapet height – are there no floor-to-ceiling elements upstairs?

The insulation boards can be adapted to the actual opening dimensions, whereas the brick facing has its own dominant tolerance based on the planned masonry dimensions.

What advantage is there in carrying out the window installation in two construction phases?

Exactly from parapet height or 2 bricks above, the plaster facade begins. There are 2 floor-to-ceiling elements.

There should be no advantage; I want to have the windows installed as quickly as possible so that work inside can continue.

I just didn’t know whether the ETICS has to be finished beforehand or not. (after all, the weather won’t allow that in the foreseeable future)

So for me, the windows can go in once the brick cladding is finished, and the plaster facade can be done afterward when the weather permits?

Thanks

Measurements can definitely be taken once the cladding is finished. I would coordinate the installation above with the ETICS installers, but there is no need to wait for them to take measurements. Above is the ETICS, which is subordinate and must fit together. The measurements below only had to wait to see how far the masonry might have deviated from the target dimensions.

Are you sure you know what you're talking about? It doesn't matter for the measurement whether it is built with one or two layers. Any somewhat reputable window installer will wait for the finished shell construction.

Exactly. And with cladding, the shell construction does not stop at the load-bearing envelope. Each work step has its "own" tolerances and can only be measured as "complete".
