Hello everyone,

I have a question - how was the window frame connected to the reveal from the inside for you? With us, it was done with acrylic - unfortunately, it is now cracking at the front door and the lift-and-slide door. This is not really a big problem, but not very nice either.

Best regards

Is correct with acrylic - it cracks (conditionally) as well... at least with such large elements, which naturally sway a bit. However: does the acrylic crack or the paint on it?

I believe the acrylic itself as well - at least for the elements that have to withstand greater forces (front door, which is often slammed shut) and lift-slide door, which simply has a high mass. You just don’t do anything, or can you simply repaint it occasionally if necessary?

Brushing over - it's just for the look anyway.

In a new building, an APU strip belongs in the corners between the window frame and the reveal, not acrylic. The APU strip is glued to the window frame parallel to the corner protection strip using foam adhesive tape (approx. 3mm high). The fabric of the APU strip is plastered into the reveal. The removal edge is chamfered after masking or plastering.

The fabric prevents cracking in the reveal. Foam adhesive tape compensates for the 3D movements of the window frame. The same applies to the front door.

Attached are two example pictures. 1x not yet finished and 1x finished.

Well, it's a matter of opinion whether that belongs in the new building - the solution is nice, but also more elaborate. By the way, I've never seen it in any new building around here - and some of them were very expensive.

And properly done, acrylic doesn't look any worse because you never look at it again afterwards anyway ;)

Just paint over it and that's it...
