Hello house building friends,

we bought a prefab house and after 2 years there are cracks in all corners (walls to each other and to the ceilings). These cracks are in ALL corners (without exception) - partially even in the grout in the bathroom. For repairs, the house building company now wants to put silicone everywhere and repaint. In our old apartment we had the same, and it always looked "dirty" at the ceiling joints and corners because the wall and silicone darkened differently over time. In any case, I would never have signed to buy a house with silicone joints. Does anyone know who decides how the repairs can be done? Do we have to agree on this or can they specify it?

Best regards Torsten

The contractor decides how to solve it, as long as the solution complies with the recognized rules of technology.

Acrylic, because it can be painted over.

Do you have pictures of the cracks? If necessary, applying filler and painting might be more practical. I'm also not a big fan of silicone and acrylic.

Even though I have not combed through the entire thread in

I have the impression that you were stingy with purposeful illustration of your question(s).

Exactly. It should be noted that silicone certainly does not comply with the recognized rules of technology.
