Dear community,

we are facing the difficult decision of which roof pitch to choose. Allowed are 22-28 degrees. We want a single-family house with two full floors + an open roof truss.
What are the advantages and disadvantages resulting from 22 or 28 degrees roof pitch? Does one feel uncomfortable in the hallway with a 28-degree roof pitch and an open roof truss due to the height? (See pictures in the attachment)

Thank you very much for your advice.

Best regards

What kind of roof covering do you want? Flat tiles like e.g. Tegalit are not optimal for 22°. It works, we have that, but with the knowledge we have today we would do it differently (choose a different roof tile).

Thank you very much for the feedback.

Regarding the roof covering, we have not yet given it any thought.
The development plan stipulates: "Tiles in dark colors."
Which covering would be recommended in terms of price/performance?
We are afraid that the room heights might seem too high due to 28 degrees and could lead to discomfort on the upper floor. On the other hand, we want to raise the bed in the children's rooms upstairs as a kind of "mezzanine" to create more space for the small (11sqm) bedrooms.
It is a normal square house with a gable roof.

Best regards

You have to decide: with an 11 sqm children's room, there should already be some compensatory space for the child. I had such a roof pitch in the old terraced house and felt uncomfortable in the large bedroom. The smaller rooms at the neighbors were taller than wide, which was not nice at all. But you can also sketch that out for yourself. We now have an open roof in the living room with 26 degrees, which feels very spacious and open.

Thank you for the information.
One children's room is 11.89 and the second children's room is 12.39 sqm.
The depth (to the gable) is 3.04 meters, the length is 3.84 meters or 4.02 meters respectively.
The highest point in the room is 3.60 meters at 23 degrees or 4.00 meters at 28 degrees.
In the children's room, we don't find it so bad, I think, since we want to cover the highest side with a wooden "mezzanine" for the bed with a ladder.
In the hallway in the middle of the house, however, we fear that it might feel like a hall.
What impact does the roof pitch have on the roof tiles? (Or is there no impact at 22 vs. 28 degrees)

Best regards

It depends on the layout of the rooms. Approximate values from our RH: 2.80 or 3.20 width of the rooms, length 4.00 or 5.00 meters. Windows were on the short sides at the gable. Highest ceiling point 3.40 with full floor height approx. 2.20. They were terribly narrow tubes, the windows at the end of the room (double patio doors) reinforced this effect. It reads as if you have a different room layout. ...
