Hello everyone,

I am planning a camera system from Reolink and am still looking for an intercom system.
So far, I wanted a camera intercom system. On the other hand, I will install a camera at the front door, which can be viewed at any time via a central tablet.
So it probably makes little sense to pay the extra cost after all. Or am I overlooking something important?

In general, I find, for example, 1,500 euros for a Doorbird a pretty steep price.
Do you have alternative recommendations without a camera that are of good quality but reasonably priced?
Thank you in advance

Whether that gets annoying in the long run depends on how quickly you can see the camera image when needed. Technically, that's possible.

A decent camera will always cost money. I would stick with brands, the house will surely stand for 30 years or more. I have often experienced that in a few years there is nothing left for the flush-mounted boxes because they came from somewhere deep in the internet. I think Doorbird has done very well over the years. Siedle is sustainable, even though it is expensive, but for that, there will still be upgrade kits for old housings in 20 years. We have the ones from Baudisch because it works with our smart home, but even there I hope that the flush-mounted box will not have to be removed anymore. It is also important that most have a fixed camera installed, so you should inform yourself beforehand about how to place it. You have to consider such things. Regards, Patrick

I am also having the Doorbird installed including [Briefkasten] in the package. Then you have everything in one and it’s done. I have only heard good things about Doorbird.

Okay, may I ask what you paid for it? I just got a brand new Siedle with a camera and also with a mailbox for 1.5k. It does hurt, but oh well. It's done once and for all, as you say. Such things make a big difference in the end, whether the appearance/feel of the house seems high-quality or cheap. I had to decide fairly quickly now because I want to finish the rough installations during my vacation and the upcoming vacations this year. The plasterers are supposed to come in this year.

I know that all too well. Camera including mailbox and punched-out house number illuminated 1.6k Unbelievable how expensive these things are. I was told that mailboxes at a company starting with "R" can also cost well over 3k. Without electronics. Crazy
