I have a question for the experts. We want to build a 1.5-story timber frame house with a gable roof. Now I am looking for the right heating system. Our decision is to install a condensing boiler with a storage tank. In addition, two solar collectors in combination with a water-guided fireplace. On the ground floor, there will be underfloor heating. In the upper floor as well as in the children's rooms, radiators are to be installed. In the bathroom, a radiator return loop should be installed. Has anyone had experience with this heating combination? What is recommended and are there better suggestions? Thank you very much Robert

Hello, I don't understand why you want to install radiators, that will be a high-temperature system. Are floor coverings that are not suitable for underfloor heating being considered in your idea? It is important that the underfloor heating operates at low temperatures (<=35°C). Your entire heating system must be designed as a low-temperature system. In the bathroom, I would install a towel radiator. That is energetically reasonable, but it depends on the location. That's all for now.

Hi,
An underfloor heating system should of course be cost-neutral. The material is also cheaper in terms of costs and it is installed faster than radiators are mounted. The complex control is also eliminated because the flow temperature is required for the whole house.

Hello,
Thank you very much for the previous answers. Our current apartment has underfloor heating and has not been used in the past two years. Especially in the children's rooms and the bedroom. That is why my thoughts are going in this direction.

My intention is not only to heat the domestic hot water with the solar system and the water-based fireplace, but also the heating water.

Hello Robert, Such underfloor heating is also not used, because it heats in the background. The good thing is, there is no more fiddling with it here. However, with the water-based fireplace, I would think three times about whether I want something like that. It is a highly complex system and difficult to regulate. Problems can always occur here. I also believe that the expected savings dwindle to almost nothing. The 2 solar collectors you suggested are a minimum requirement and just enough to heat hot water for 2 people. This investment only pays off after 30 years. I also see the heating of the heating water as a problem; in summer you don’t need it, and in winter the sun is not strong enough to heat the heating water. BG

Hi, For me, all of this is too complicated and complex. Two heating circuits with different temperatures are completely sufficient for me. Sufficient. The water-bearing fireplace and solar can also be included. Possibly a floor heating system, but that’s where it ends. The other stuff involves work and never pays off. This is where the major problems arise. Best regards
