Hello colleagues,

I have done some research over the past few days, asking neighbors of the construction site and so on.

The construction site has an area of 800 sqm.
The soil consists of clay. Everyone agreed with a heat pump, regardless of whether [Flächekolektoren] or drilling.

Drilling is supposed to be the better alternative, as geothermal energy can be better utilized even in winter at temperatures below -10 degrees.

In terms of price, I now have to inquire about which is the cheaper option between drilling and [Fläche].

Hello csba,

You are still quite at the beginning with your project "house purchase/construction" and thus there is still the possibility to apply all the crucial levers.

Firstly, if you are planning to build a house in 2011, I would make sure that you build at least according to the standard of the Energy Saving Ordinance 2012 (Energy Saving Ordinance), which, as the title of the ordinance indicates, comes into effect in 2012. So don’t build something that will already be outdated tomorrow (ensuring the property's value retention). In addition, this way you can access low-interest loans from the KfW, as you will be undercutting the current Energy Saving Ordinance 2009.

As EBi has already explained extensively, the right choice of heating system is a critical issue. Besides the actual location, the usage behavior of the future residents is of particular importance.
Here, advice from your planner/architect, developer, and an independent energy consultant can offer valuable support. You can research energy consultants online at the German Energy Agency (DENA).

By complying with the requirements of the Energy Saving Ordinance 2012, which are 30% below today’s values, energy consumption is significantly reduced. If you want to avoid high investment costs or if the budget currently does not allow it, the use of a gas condensing system is economical (see the contribution by EBI), but also ecologically interesting.
