Which garage size to choose? Tips

We have now decided on a double prefabricated garage with 2 doors. 6 x 7 meters. Open inside. One side for the car + some storage space at the back. 2nd garage for bikes, Croozer, lawnmower, grill, children's toys, etc. The whole thing will be roofed and covered similar to the house. There is 2.5 meters of space between the house (entrance) and the garage wall. Initially open with the option to close the passage to the garden later and install a door.

Just to reinforce your decision: Basically, I would calculate with a space requirement of 6x3 meters for a car. It can be tighter, but if I look at the dimensions of a VW Passat alone today, you should definitely take that into account. Beyond that, you can consider how much space you need for your bicycles, etc. I would simply compare that with your current needs or just mark out a "space" with tape and try it out. You will see that the double garage is the right choice for you.

We have extended our double garage by 3m. The space is well utilized with shelves for various odds and ends, 2 sets of wheels, an old desk used as a workbench, garden tools, a wheelbarrow, lawnmower, grill, children's toys, bicycles, stroller, and so on. In winter, the garden furniture and the box for seat cushions are also stored inside. It then gets almost tight if you don't want to completely block the access. Here and there, some optimization could be done, but that is not top priority right now.
