We especially liked buying furniture from Tellmann in Mönchengladbach, some came from Knuffmann in Neuss, others from Genske, Lambert, Tischhelden and Design Post – all from Cologne – as well as Refri in Weert and MYCS in Düsseldorf. From January 17 to 23, the International Furniture Fair IMM takes place again in Cologne. There we found, for example, our light switch program from GI Gambarelli (which no electrician here knows), desks (Müller Design) and dining tables (Venjakob), which we then bought as mentioned above – and meanwhile also a whirlpool (Softub) and ceramic dishes (Ono Mao). The ideas you can gather there are worth their weight in gold. Better to plan two days or visit the halls selectively with the catalog. The selection is enormous. Buy only from people you can connect with. The good mood during the purchase and the shared positive joy about the conclusion you take home with you. That is worth a few euros because it is tangible quality of life. If you buy from an “a****le” who offers the lowest price, you sit on your sofa and have to think about the unpleasant person. That would be really stupid, wouldn’t it? At Tellmann in Mönchengladbach, I learned what really good advice is and how helpful someone can be who not only knows his showroom but has a well-founded overview of manufacturers and their portfolios. The Tellmanns (father and son) understood well what we like and, which is rare enough, gave us a real added value. As above: the good buying atmosphere is still clearly noticeable in our house after two years. The things simply bring more joy.

Fortunately, that is a matter of personal opinion.

Everyone has it. Many series are suitable to complement your furniture, but it is also highly recommended as starter furniture. However, I still find the occasional basic piece there.

Quickly googled the two, because they are not available here.

Google shows the same products at these two as they do at Segmüller, XXXLutz, home24, etc.
Here, they are called Möbel Kraft, Höffner, Dodenhof, Schulenburg, MöMax, Möbel Schulenburg, Optiwelt; they all offer the same furniture.
From high-quality manufacturers to Roller quality. Mail-order companies like Otto and Baur also offer the same goods.
You have to like it all.
We are lucky to have furniture "stores" in our area near Hamburg that also sell individual pieces. Country house style, modern, eccentric, everything is available. You often find exactly the piece that fits, but you have to look. There is an outlet for the Impression furniture from Otto, for example. Or tables as modular systems: tabletop separately to taste, but also table legs.
Some also have online sales with shipping.
My recommendations include Riess-Ambiente (also present on eBay and now at Otto), Möbelhaus Hamburg, Wäscherei (a bit more expensive), Made, WestwingNow, Maisondumonde, and some Danish and Dutch online stores. Wayfair also has good furniture if you don’t choose the cheapest version.
Regionally, there are often good furniture stores that are not chains. Just google locally via Maps and drive around.

Ok thanks so it depends more on the brand of the furniture than on the furniture store Which brands can you recommend that have good quality at a low to medium price so a good price-performance ratio

I think you should rather consider a rough budget and then spend a day in furniture stores to get an impression of what a) you like and b) fits into your budget. How much do you want to spend?

Good quality at a low price is always difficult, because quality has its price. And a good price/performance ratio is also relative.

You can definitely get hundreds of furniture manufacturers here that the forum members like. But these are also dozens of styles. Modern and sober, solid wood furniture, Asian-inspired, lacquer and steel, Bauhaus, etc.

I really like the solid wood furniture from rs. Not for the entire place, but here and there a nice piece. Otherwise, all kinds of different things come into the house, just as ypg describes. A silly question to the heavy users of this forum: is it common to start a new topic for every little thing? I usually know it to be collected in one thread.

I see it differently, some brands are excellent and little known, they easily "slip through the cracks." Some brands stand for continuity and outstanding quality – some furniture designs go back decades and are still being made and supplied with spare parts/upholstery. These classics – as long as you’re not greedily buying a fake – cost quite a bit but also last long enough to become heirlooms. That’s also a form of good value. Above all, it depends on whether you like the piece of furniture and have a good personal impression of its quality. Don’t buy anything that has a "new furniture smell." Who wants to put a stinker in their home.
