In the living areas of our new building, we are planning a design floor. Just under a year ago, I moved into a new office building. There, design flooring was also installed. I like it very much and despite office chair casters and public traffic, I find the floor flawless. It belongs to group T in terms of wear behavior and more or equal to 6 in colorfastness. Price: €29.90/sqm. It doesn't seem expensive to me. Is this recommended for private living areas? With underfloor heating, is it possible to put a carpet on it or is that not recommended?

That probably depends on who you ask. My heating guy says no. The floor seller says, of course. Same answer as to the question about floating installation. I am also currently researching. For myself, I have already decided, if possible no HDF core, because it can rot from the inside if moisture has penetrated.

What are HDF carriers?

HDF = high-density-fiberboard = Hochdichte Faserplatte

So, basically glued sawdust. It is often used as a carrier board so that the thin plastic does not appear so wavy. But since it is ultimately wood, it does not do well with moisture, which is actually supposed to be an advantage with vinyl. So for me (if you have even come to terms with the idea of plastic as flooring in living spaces) only full plastic. You can even lay that in the bathroom.

"Plastic" for 30€ on the floor? No, I don't find that recommended.

Yes, that is a point I also don't quite get yet. The stuff is usually too expensive and should be much cheaper.
