Hello everyone,

yesterday our custom-made Personlig countertop was delivered. We have an L-shape and received the countertop with the appropriate joint routings. I thought Ikea would also supply the corresponding countertop connectors. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case.

Do you have any tips on which connectors are best suited?

Do I need anything else besides the countertop connectors? Do I also need Lamello?

I plan to install the countertop over the Easter weekend and would therefore be very grateful for valuable tips and advice.

Many thanks and best regards!

Don't have an IKEA board but this routing from Hornbach and the connectors from your picture. That's more than enough - I pushed the boards edge to edge and then tightened them. A kitchen fitter told me that you could tape the sawn edges or smear them with silicone, but I did neither. Fits perfectly.

Alternatively: Take a picture of the boards and go to the (local) hardware store and ask there how to best connect them.
Attention: With a 90 cm corner base cabinet, the connector in our case is exactly on the cabinet brace - endless fiddling!

No connectors included at this price? Maybe they are accidentally missing?

How is the board for the L-shape actually cut? Is it simply pushed together at a right angle and pulled tight? Asking because at our local IKEA the first cut was on display.

I also think the connectors should be included and were forgotten. If grooves are milled on the end faces, springs belong there. It is advisable to coat the end faces with silicone so that the board does not swell so easily if water gets into the joint.

I assembled the kitchen in our granny flat with Personlig countertops a few weeks ago. The corner joints were routed. When ordering, you could also specify where the corner routing should be done so that, for example, one board isn't forever long and the other short. We also have a corner base cabinet and were able to avoid beforehand, when choosing the routing, that – as Assamer writes – the connectors lie over the cabinet brace.

Since it was a board with a rounded front edge, screwing them together at right angles doesn’t work at all; the routing has to ensure that the front edge goes around the corner without interruption. You can make the diagonal cut if you want to saw the boards yourself with a circular saw. But then you also have to make the grooves for the Lamello and the holes for the connectors yourself. In my opinion, that’s really not worth it.

The Personlig boards are delivered by IKEA complete, including Lamello and panel connectors, and everything is pre-routed. There is even a little bag with special silicone adhesive included. Assembly was quite easy.

If you want it really simple, IKEA also has metal strips for the corner joint, then you can butt the boards together without routing and cover the cut edges with that. But that’s not exactly beautiful.

Best regards, Wolfgang

Hello everyone, thank you very much for your answers. Due to the fact that you mentioned here that the countertop connectors might have been forgotten, I called the hotline. There I had a very competent employee on the line *clears throat*.

According to his statement – and he had to double-check with his colleagues – no mounting materials such as screws, Lamello and so on are included. You only have to lay the countertop on the base cabinets and screw it tight from underneath. When I asked why then the grooves are made separately, he could not give me an answer. When I asked again what about the screws, the gentleman said that I would have to get them myself at a specialized retailer. They could not be bought at IKEA – not even afterwards.

So I will now drive to the hardware store and see if I can get such countertop connectors there. ops:
