We have not built yet and are still in the phase of brainstorming. We currently favor a raised basement. It has various advantages: lower excavation costs and the possibility to use the rooms as real living space. What do you think about raised basements? Are there possibly builders who have built with a raised basement? What are your experiences?

Nothing at all. There are always stairs to overcome to the entrance. There is also no barrier-free access to the garden.

The question about a basement has already been discussed in several threads here.

Basically, it is a matter of the plot, the budget, and personal preferences. Personally, I could not imagine building without a basement. Even in my parents' house, I found the basement very valuable. In particular, a hobby room with a ping pong table and a pool table were used very frequently. I also find the basement useful for the heating system and storage space.

Top :)

We are planning similarly. Simply put, we go half a level down (living basement) and half a level up into the ground floor, thus creating 2 barrier-free floors with level access to the garden (south side).

However, it strongly depends on the plot. How much earth has to be moved and what about the groundwater situation. Often the development plan also throws a wrench in the works because the whole building project ends up being a bit higher.

Hello, that is interesting. How exactly have you planned so that both floors are barrier-free? Front (entrance) and back (garden)? Why did you decide on a raised basement and what exactly does your plan look like? Which rooms do you want to accommodate there? It would be great if you could share your ideas.
