Where can you find a crazy architect?

Hello everyone,

Recently, by a fortunate coincidence, we were awarded a wonderful plot of land in the Füssen area. It is approximately 8,000 sqm in total and offers an almost unobstructed 90-degree lake view, with a slight southern slope. No construction is allowed in front of, behind, or beside the property.

We do not want to build a run-of-the-mill house, but something special that is timeless and meant to endure for generations. Perhaps with a few references to King Ludwig... yet it should still be recognized as a typical house in the Allgäu region.

Where can we find a crazy architect who can create plans on this basis that a developer can then realize affordably? Are there platforms where such work can be tendered? Could something like this be presented as a project work at universities of applied sciences, for example? How and where would you approach this? This is now our first step.

Many greetings from Munich!

Hello,

At the Architects' Chamber, in relevant publications, or in new development areas.

Affordable is relative; it crucially depends on the architecture and the materials used. Elaborate architecture and cheap usually exclude each other :D

How should a tender work if there hasn't been a thorough discussion about the "how" beforehand? Tenders for single-family homes only pay off for interested architects if, in the end, a larger project than a single-family home results; for example, municipal tenders.

Just ask, but I fear the effort will not justify the result; after all, you don't want to build another "Neuschwanstein," do you?

Kind regards

Thank you for the feedback:

I was rather aiming at the possibility that there might be architects who would like to build a monument for themselves, instead of always having to consider space-economic aspects.

Let me put it more concretely: How do you find someone who is eager to design a special property?

(Of course, it should not fail because of their fee - it should be feasible and not be in a different cost dimension.)

Hello,

It's clear ...

... as I described, you will find someone. I work here with both "artist children" and architects who pay attention to the "spatial-economic aspects"; you will find such different approaches to work also in your area of life.

Choose a medium-sized new development area in your surroundings, go there and I am sure you will find the architect that suits you. Otherwise, as mentioned, the relevant chamber of architects or publications are another point of contact.

Another option is to go to somewhat more expensive residential areas in your surroundings and if you like the architecture, just press the doorbell; more than a no can't come of it :D

Kind regards
