Our view is that the basic installation must be ready for move-in so that one does not constantly have to go through sand, mud, and over pallets. The actual garden will grow.

The ground around the house is no longer settling, it is usually fully compacted. When topsoil is added, of course, that's a different matter. I would also implement the landscaping immediately if financially possible. A plastered facade would benefit from a splash guard strip from day one, I estimate. In our new development area, some implemented it later, and the formerly white base area has turned nicely clay-yellow.

For the driveway, basalt gravel can be used as a supplement to Nordlys' suggestion. Limestone gravel rather not, it becomes slippery when wet. When graveling the driveway, immediately consider the correct height for the final surface.

So, the gravel will be the final solution for us. Why should I seal so much? On our slope, we already have problems getting rid of the water, at least the properties far below, so we shouldn't cause them additional troubles from above. This granite quarry stone we received as splash protection also looks good on the driveway. Yes, it's sh... when shoveling snow, but there is hardly ever snow here anyway. Karsten
