That's why I said it has to be considered individually... But to label it generally as brainwashing by the insurance companies is simply stupid.

Excuse me? That is once again so generalizing... It depends on pre-existing conditions and so on. You shouldn't always just go for the Check24 price winner. By the way, the percentage of lawsuits is publicly available.

That is nonsense, your predecessor explained it aptly. You are saving in the wrong place.

On the topic of BU: There is a prohibition against overinsurance, and in the event of a claim, the statutory (disability pension) must pay first, and then the private BU. I also fell for this and am currently overinsured because the benefit of the BUV may only amount to a certain percentage of the regular salary. (People have already cut off a hand for less money.)

Problem with the (my) statutory BU (professional pension scheme): it only pays in the case of 100% BU, not for partial BU. That is the case where the private BU must pay. In the case of 100% BU, the statutory BU pays first and then maybe the private BU pays a small difference. But I pay contributions monthly for the full insured amount, and not a small one.

My insurance agent DID NOT point this out to me. I will have a detailed consultation on this topic again next week.

Reduced earning capacity is not the same as (partial) occupational disability. Reduced earning capacity concerns the ability to perform ANY job in the labor market. The occupational disability insurance (if chosen correctly) covers the last occupation performed.

Example: The roofer injures himself privately at home. He then has knee problems and can no longer climb roofs. However, he could still work in a call center. Here, occupational disability insurance is important because he can no longer perform his profession. But he is not completely unable to work in any profession.

Therefore, private insurance is important under the conditions I mentioned above.

When I think about the rising rates of cancer and burnout, it not only affects the physically working population but also mentally active employees. In these cases, a disability pension is likely to be quite time-consuming. In contrast, the occupational disability insurance (BU) is much more likely to be obligated to pay, especially if the referral to another profession is excluded.

The private BU is not offset against the disability pension.
