Hello everyone, we are considering drilling or having a well drilled. For garden irrigation. We would need about 12-15 meters deep. What costs should be expected for doing it ourselves or having it done?

Hi,

it always depends on the local conditions. With us, a well including a check valve costs around €350.

For you, I would estimate about €500 due to the depth.

Up to 10m flat rate about €800. Plus water law permit €200, plus pump €100-200 plus possibly electrician. You can probably drill manually up to about 10m, but you need muscles. Otherwise rent a machine, that works too. I once watched it on YouTube, no big deal. We gave up, neighbors did it. For the money, I can supply the garden via the external water meter for many years. But it is drinking water, so the conscience pinches a bit.

Wow, what kind of ground do you have? This is now purely about a small well for a domestic water system and not about a deep well pump?

The offer for a percussion drilling was similar to us, about €800 for 8m, plus pump.

We also lack competition. The well drillers declined, they only do larger projects. The offer then came from the company that also carried out the [Baugrunduntersuchung].

At 15 meters, you cannot construct a driven well but must have a hole made and then insert a pipe of at least 110mm. Even larger would be better. And then use a deep well pump. Therefore, I now assume well over €1000.
