Wax or oil oak parquet?

Hello everyone,

I need your help.

I have now sanded about 40m2 of oak parquet and want to either wax or oil it.

Which material is easier for a layperson to apply? Also, some wooden elements have shifted, creating gaps. Can I repair these now - and if so, with what? With hard wax or a mixture of sanding dust and wood glue or acrylic lacquer?

I recommend oiling, for example with Woca wood floor oil. This oil is also used by some parquet manufacturers. It is easy and quick, and the surface remains natural. In the case of a partial repair of the floor, it is absolutely unproblematic; with lacquer it becomes critical. I have also used Osmo wax oil mixture (I don’t remember the exact name at the moment). It wasn’t bad, but today I would only use pure oil. How large are the gaps? Be careful about filling with a paste! Usually after one winter that stuff slowly crumbles out again and new cracks form.

I haven’t stopped by here for a while ;)
So I treated the parquet with this Woca wood floor oil. I’m not a pro, but I have to say, it worked great! It takes some skill and the right equipment, and then it’s doable for a DIYer.
