Hello everyone,

first of all, great praise to everyone here, I have been following for some time and it is really an extremely good and helpful forum.

Now to my question:
We are currently planning our single-family house and want to take the opportunity to install a water/water heat pump as heating. However, I am an absolute beginner in this field and somewhat lost in the world of heat pumps and heating options.

My question now relates to domestic hot water preparation. How do you sensibly combine this?
Is it possible to use a controlled residential ventilation system with heat recovery for domestic hot water preparation or is that not economical?
Solar could also possibly be an option, as the roof slope faces south.

The appointment with the energy consultant is still pending, as the architect’s plans are not yet completely finished.

Thanks for your advice

A heat pump should basically always also prepare the domestic hot water, because it only causes relatively low costs for the domestic hot water due to the efficiency of the system. However, there are many options for achieving this, and there is no universal recipe. What is certain, however, is that the installation of a thermal solar system in combination with a heat pump is rarely if ever economical. Nevertheless, there are application examples where it can be worthwhile, and the integration of heat recovery must also be assessed on a case-by-case basis. It is best to consult a heat pump professional.

Hi WPC Rubigen, Thank you very much for your contribution. I agree with your thesis on [Brauchwasseraufbereitung]. That also makes sense. I had done some research on it beforehand, because that is indeed a complex topic. Best regards

I think so too, and it is rather not worthwhile. But still, I find it a good solution if I do not focus on the economic aspect.
