Sorry, that was a bit unclear. The sheet metal screws usually come with a rubber ring that prevents water from entering the screw hole.

Ah okay, yes I will check again whether the screws are all properly seated. But I can't imagine that the problem lies there. I think somewhere in the eaves area the fleece actually draws the water upwards inside.

Can water flow uphill?

how does it get up there then? Why does the water not come up along the entire length, but only at a small part.

I would say that water comes from above. Screw or ridge leak. surely the overhang to the gutter is very small, but it should not be the cause. Maybe something at an overlap is not or no longer tight. Needs to be checked.

Basically, it is always very difficult to locate a water ingress.

Yes, water can flow uphill.. it’s called capillary action.
