A specialist company or the municipal utilities perform a pressure test before the acceptance of the house water connection to ensure that all connections hold and nothing leaks.

The acceptance is mandatory, Karsten. The backfilling is done afterwards.

Oh, I see....that was also taken care of here by the gas-water....pool technology guy. Before the special-purpose association installed the water meter and turned on the tap. That probably also worked with the construction water guy.

I am curious what this will still cost us or if it will cost anything at all. The water connection is already about 2m inside the property, the municipality said we should have the earthworks contractor lay it into the house, they will then only come for inspection and water meter installation.

Just ask. They do have a fee schedule. They'll look it up for you. But it won't be much in this case. They will want to see a pressure test report from you or create one themselves. And then possibly 40,- for the meter installation. That remains their property. Karsten

You're lucky though, in Berlin, connecting to drinking water alone costs a good 7000 €.
