Why shouldn't the resin/salt softening be suitable for an entire house?

I didn't say that. Bautraum 2015 asked what else there "is". The softening (actually decarbonization) by weakly acidic ion exchanger with resins that are regenerated with salt has already been discussed, so they do not fall under "else". :)

Hello,

I would like to join the discussion here.
Is hard water usually associated with water containing lime?

Here in the area the water is extremely lime-rich and I am considering what can be done about it.

The construction of our single-family house is imminent. In the basement, a room will be created for house connections and heating, where I would prefer to install a system that treats the water before it is distributed throughout the house.

Does the system discussed on the first pages apply here, or should hardness and lime be considered separately? If so, how can we best deal with lime-containing water?

Thanks and regards

a lot of lime = hard water, little lime = soft water

So, yes, you want what is being discussed here.
