Hello! The heavy rain of the past few days has caused water damage at my construction site. The recently installed screed (anhydrite) is underwater over an area of 3x4 meters or has really soaked up  Question for the experts: Can the screed withstand this? Can it stay in place after drying, and how can I dry the area as cheaply as possible?

An anhydrite will not withstand this, as gypsum, unlike cement, always reacts with water again and again - until it is decomposed.

The neighbor had the same, and the screed was ruined. A hose burst at his place in the evening and flooded the area. Even floor drying did not help. The company removed the screed and laid a new one. They covered the costs.

If the company has covered the costs, then that is good. But often that is not the case. I think the anhydrite screed is not much good either. It is cheap, but not usable with water.

Okay, if this screed contains gypsum, then it is clear. It cannot withstand significant water damage. I think the screed needs to be drilled open and then warm air allowed in. However, the insulation must not be damaged.

But it is quite a feat to drill into the screed without damaging the insulation. I also believe that with this type of screed, it needs to be replaced.
