How does anyone come up with the ridiculous idea to build such a stupid cavity? - and how is the firefighter supposed to crawl in there? We already had the wasp nest topic here:

Hi, well, I think the room/area must be ventilated to prevent mold. And whether you can manage it so that no critters get in is something I doubt. Olli

There should be nets/grilles in front to prevent insects from getting in. And there should be filters in the unit. Or what do you mean?

If the wasps are aggressive, I would also get a professional. And unfortunately, they can really cause feeding damage. We once stayed in a holiday home where they got inside through the roof from the outside and chewed their way through the wooden cladding inside and reached the living area through gaps. I was glad that wasn’t our personal problem. So, I would definitely want to find out where they came in and try to seal it off. And check for damage, because they also chew through insulation. The nest there is quite large, so the wasp colony inside was correspondingly big.

We have wasps in the greenhouse, roughly the same spot every year. We let them build there; they are peaceful field wasps. But if there were damage to the house, I would take action.

Exactly: you simply can't manage it. That's why you don't even build an attic that isn't even properly crawlable. You use such a space with open roof undersides – as a suitcase floor in the dressing room, as a loft bed in the kids' rooms, above the tub you treat yourself to a double casement window for a view of the sky. Planners of poorly designed houses should buy these themselves and have to live in them for a minimum period corresponding to the severity of the offense ;-)
