Hello everyone,

since we are building with a developer, we are tied to a specific sanitary supplier - at least for the absolutely necessary sanitary items such as sinks, toilets, etc.

In the master bathroom, we will have two above-counter sinks on a vanity top. The current plan also includes a base cabinet for a modest 2500 €. We would now like to remove this and only buy the vanity top along with the sinks from the sanitary supplier. We want to buy the base cabinet separately from a different manufacturer than the one for the vanity top.

Our bathroom planner said that this is not so easily possible, to install a base cabinet and vanity top from different manufacturers.

Is this statement correct? As a layman, I don’t really see any problems with that.

Thank you very much in advance for your answers.

Best regards

What kind of big problems should there be, of course that works. She just wants to sell her stuff, that's how it is. That's why this statement from her.

As long as the shape fits, it works ... specifically, the technical drawing must be checked.

Of course it is possible and even easy. We have done this several times ourselves, at our place or for the kids. Take a countertop (I prefer multiplex plywood 40mm thick) and place it as needed (e.g. a strip/rail on one wall and on the other wall we have, for example, a steel bracket from a metalworker for €50.- At the sawmill where you get the countertop (DIY stores usually don’t have this), have them make the appropriate drillings/holes for drain/inlet and slightly bevel the edges. Oil/paint or whatever you want the countertop, place the basin on top and done. Then you can screw any furniture from underneath to the countertop or to the wall in the back. Where’s the problem supposed to be? We have Ikea Godmorgen, the wide version, painted gray, looks really nice in my opinion, and all parts are inexpensive yet high quality. Screw a stainless steel towel holder to the side of the countertop, etc. No problem at all, because it’s not chipboard.

That's exactly how I see it too. Our planner managed to unsettle us, so I wanted to ask again.

As you describe it above, we are currently planning it in the guest bathroom with a wooden washbasin from the sawmill.

Thanks to you all for the answers!

Regards
