Hello everyone, we are in the process of insulating our roof to convert the entire attic into an apartment. In the sketch, I have outlined our plan. We would like to lay the insulation wool up to the roof ridge (green lines). Directly behind that would be the vapor barrier foil. The foil should also go up to the roof ridge. Since we have cross beams, we would have to cut the foil, which involves a lot of effort. Since the future ceiling of the apartment will go up to the blue line, our idea was not to glue the foil up to the roof ridge but along the red lines. If we can/are allowed to do this, we would hardly have to cut the foil to lay it in this area. If this is okay, we would additionally lay insulation wool (yellow line). The question again: Can we lay the vapor barrier foil (red line) like this, or must the foil be laid up to the roof ridge? If more information is needed, please let us know. Thanks to everyone. Best regards
