Hello everyone,
is there a possibility to operate underfloor heating with a brick ceiling without a concrete topping? I have googled a lot but couldn't find a usable statement.
Maybe someone here knows more about it or has possibly already used it.

Best regards

Hello,
If the underfloor heating has been properly sized, there should be no problems.

Hello €uro, are there possibly problems with cabinets etc. with underfloor heating and do they need to be pre-dimensioned in advance? Some brickworks also offer a climate ceiling. There you would be virtually free regarding the surface area. It would be interesting what the respective advantages and disadvantages of each heating method would be. Does this topic also fall within the scope of a zehrt. energy consultant? Regards Speer

Hello,
There are actually no problems with a proper dimensioning of the heating surfaces. Permanently inactive heating surfaces are taken into account in the balance. Temporarily inactive heating surfaces are indeed piped and their reduced contribution to the heating capacity is correspondingly considered. In addition, corrections can be made by choosing the operating parameters.
Climate ceilings are rather less suitable for heating purposes, but better suited for cooling. It is the opposite with underfloor heating.
Rather not, unless he is simultaneously also an MEP planner

Hello,

That’s what I meant

The "radiation" is a tricky thing. Usually an abused advertising gimmick. Every body "radiates," even if it actually feels very cold to humans (Stefan-Boltzmann law)! In this respect, the "radiation" of climate ceilings is absolutely relative. Comfort depends greatly on the radiation intensity. This increases with the surface temperature. Modern heating systems are operated with low system temperatures for efficiency reasons, and accordingly, surface temperatures are also quite low.
In other words: You don't feel at all that something is radiating there or anywhere. With grandma’s tile stove, it’s completely different

Best regards

On the other hand, advocates or designers of climate ceilings made of bricks, such as Rötzer Ziegel Element Haus, promote the idea that the radiant heat from above corresponds to what we know from nature (heat from the sun = radiation from above) and that this type of heat is perceived as significantly more pleasant than radiant heat from below (underfloor heating). Thus, one would also save energy because a lower room temperature is perceived as higher than with conventional heating systems. Whether this is true or not is for those who have installed a brick ceiling heating (and cooling) system in their house to judge...
