Hello,

which windows have you chosen for your houses?

Single-leaf? Double-leaf?
Which widths and heights?
Double-leaf with or without a mullion?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of these windows?

Our house is to be an urban villa with external dimensions of 10.72x8.62 m. Which windows would you like for it? Visually, we prefer two-leaf windows. But what is more practical?

Thanks in advance for your opinions

P.S. Attached are two pictures of two variants.

1-leaf = 120x120 cm
2-leaf = 151x138 cm

we have a townhouse with similar dimensions (8x10.5 meters). facing south, we have chosen 2x 2-wing windows each on the top and bottom, whereby we chose a fixed lower window at the top.

advantage of divided upper floor-to-ceiling window: you don't need a grille in front of it, which depending on the case does not look good
disadvantage: you can only tilt open a small part of the window, to clean the lower element from outside you either have to lean over from the front or reach from below

because of the ventilation system, we hardly ever open the windows anyway. the children's room also has another window (as you can see).

with a townhouse it is super important that the position of the windows looks somewhat symmetrical from the outside. otherwise it quickly looks quite strange. best to drive to new development areas and look at townhouses. from my current window alone I can see 2 townhouses that should never have been planned that way

the cutouts on the front door side are advertising banners of the construction companies, which I have therefore removed. unfortunately I don’t have a better front image with the installed front door.

It is purely a matter of taste. Especially with a city villa, you have all options open.

Discuss this with your architect. He will recommend window fronts depending on the location of the house.

Floor-to-ceiling windows with fixed lower panes appeal to me. However, I decided against them because, as you write, cleaning these windows is somewhat complicated.

What are the dimensions of your windows?

With a city villa, you basically have all possibilities open. But then you have to somehow bring it to an end. Crisscrossing is definitely not a good idea. So 1x double-winged and next to it just floor-to-ceiling, above then 1x floor-to-ceiling and next to it normal certainly looks really bad...

Depending on who ends up building the house, look at floor plans and the side views. In the end, you have to decide for yourself and such floor plans really help a lot. Especially with the city villa, not much magic is to be expected. The ground floor consists of, right/left of the entrance, a utility room + WC, on the other side possibly a room and the beginning of the kitchen and "rear" hallway heading south then the living room (possibly part of the living room is swapped with the kitchen in plots with west entrance). The staircase goes up somewhere in the middle of the house and upstairs the rooms are distributed quite classically. Sure, it can be done differently, but 10/10 visited city villas here in the area look like this.
