Hello,
we have bought a (newly built) apartment through a developer and are unsure about the choice of the correct sliding door to the balcony. Does anyone know the exact advantages and disadvantages of the two types of sliding doors (lift-and-slide vs parallel sliding door).
The lift-and-slide door costs three times as much as a parallel sliding door and apart from the threshold being only ~2cm instead of ~7cm high, the developer has not been able to explain any concrete difference so far. He only mentioned that the mechanism in parallel sliding doors wears out over time. But I can live well with replacing the door in 10 years; even then I would have saved money.
The costs are not insignificant, as we want 2 balconies and therefore sliding doors. (~5000€ vs. ~1600€).
Many thanks for the advice!
