Hello everyone,
I am here on the recommendation of a colleague from the Bauexpertenforum:
Topic Terrace CORRECT construction?:
I want to cover (have covered) my terrace (partially roofed by about 2/3) with 90x90x2 cm ceramic tiles.
Currently, there is a concrete slab with a bitumen waterproof membrane (as protection against rising moisture from below) and virtually no slope.
Current condition:
The terrace has a maximum construction height of about 15 cm including tiles up to the top edge of the sliding door.
The length from the house wall to the garden is about 5 meters. (because of slope)
The terrace is not bordered, meaning the ends on two sides are "open" and should connect flush with the garden.
How should the further construction proceed?
I have read that one can or should either:
- apply sloped screed and then lay terrace tiles on top with drainage mat beneath
Or
- pour drainage concrete wet-in-wet with the tiles.
But then there is the problem that water might collect on the concrete slab if some water seeps through the tiles and the drainage concrete?
What needs to be considered regarding frost protection?
How should the connection at the open ends to the garden be done?
Keywords sealing, drainage etc...?
Because if the ends are sealed, potential water can no longer be drained away?
Thank you all very much.
I hope for some expert feedback.
