I would, if it seems possible for you, now choose a fireplace and have the flue pipe connection installed at the same time.

Unfortunately, we didn't do that either, and now there's trouble. With our fireplace (Erlus), hardly anyone dares to cut the ceramic pipe because it is supposed to be very sensitive. The fireplace studios would do it, but only if we buy a stove from them.

However, we bought the stove 500 km away.

If you now choose a stove, you will also know how large the installation area is, how high the weight is, whether you might need a wall enclosure or something else.

I would rather quickly call your stove builder and ask if he thinks it is necessary

We have no money left for a stove. The shell builder is being tight-lipped about it. Yeah, he can install it, but it can also be milled in later. He doesn't say more. Since we don't have a stove yet, we also don't have a stove fitter. And I doubt that a stove studio will make any statements without having seen the situation on site.

Hi,
we have a Schiedel chimney, but the same problem occurred. Drilling into it afterwards is hardly possible or carries a high risk of crumbling the entire ceramic pipe inside.
We have chosen one, had it built for that purpose, and will only buy it in the spring.

Best regards,

Andreas

Nonsense. The placement of the connection is not rocket science. Drawing of the oven, done. You will probably also know the height of the finished floor.

I would only have the drilling done once you are sure which stove you want. I also don't quite understand the comments here, we also have a ceramic inner pipe and had the drilling done when the stove arrived. It worked great, and if you let the stove builder/expert handle it, they should be able to do it as well. It should also be considered that if the drilling is done beforehand, the hole must be tightly covered. Otherwise, you basically have an open window in the middle of the living room. What will you do if the drilling later doesn't fit the stove? Who is to blame then?
