They are clamped at the bottom and top of the window frame? Are they stable?

Yes, exactly. The bracket itself is made of metal and is fixed to the frame with a screw. Not into the frame itself... The housing around it is made of plastic. The straps are stable. You can also tighten them later if the straps stretch a bit over time.

So far I had no experience buying pleated blinds, but I didn’t want those flimsy things.
We then ordered some for the bathrooms at Roolorieper.de.
They are opaque and you stick them onto the glass. Looks very neat and fits tight. Of course, it costs a bit over €100 depending on the window size.

I have some to stick on the window from Amazon. They are okay, cost about 30€ each. I didn't want to screw anything into the window, nor stick anything on the seal. I don't rent anymore...
