Hello,
a local tiler has tiled 90% of our house. On the ground floor, some tiles now sound "hollow" when you walk over them, and at one spot the grout is coming loose. I have now inspected the entire ground floor and found that I actually come across this issue in many different areas. This means two tiles are affected here, three adjacent ones over there, and occasionally one in between. Altogether, I count about 25 affected tiles. I suspect that insufficient tile adhesive was applied.
I have contacted the tiler, and now a repair with special high-viscosity resin is supposed to fix it. The grout will be cut open and the resin poured in there.
I now have various questions about this:
-is this really harmless to health?
-will a comparable strength to conventional tile adhesive be achieved?
-will the heat transfer be negatively affected (we have water underfloor heating)? (After all, it is a rather extensive repair.)
-will this repaired tiled floor have comparable durability?
Does anyone have experience with this (to this extent)? What would be your suggestions for dealing with the issue? Tile size: 120 x 30 cm.
Thanks in advance.
