Hello,

in the shower area (flush with the floor, drain in the middle) mosaic tiles will be laid and on the remaining floor normal tiles 60x60. The mosaic tiles will only be glued with notching 4 and the large tiles with notching 10 + notching 4 on the tiles themselves.

In my opinion, a height difference arises (10 + 4 mm adhesive / 2 = about 7-10 mm adhesive for 60x60 tiles) and the mosaic tiles (only 4 mm adhesive on the mosaic tiles themselves). How is this to be compensated? Should a strip be placed in between or just grout?

Thank you.

Who is doing that?
Normally, the mosaic tiles are glued on a slope so that they meet the flat tiles somewhere. No rail or leveling is needed.
If in the calculations it still turns out that leveling is necessary, then it must be done before tiling.

Sure, the slope for the mosaic tiles is already there, my question only relates to the height difference. In my opinion, this is caused because the tile adhesive is not applied evenly thick (much thinner with mosaic tiles). I have made a sketch here:

Therefore, I am wondering if it would make sense to already raise the screed in the shower area (slope) (by how many mm?) so that the height difference will be smaller later.

That's the tiler's problem. He should know how to do it. Just ask him how he plans to handle it.

That's actually quite simple. First lay the 60 * 60 tiles. Then create a leveling layer for the mosaic tiles and after the leveling layer has set, lay the mosaic. Or do you want an edge?

Better discuss the installation plan with the tiler. With large tiles, it should be well planned.

That is exactly right, The screed installer cannot do a 3mm step. It is the same with us, and afterwards everything is smooth and flush with the floor and with a slope.
