Hello everyone,

what did you do first? Tiles first or the fine/top plaster first?
My approach: Advantage of tiles first: I hope for a nicer appearance when plastering the baseboards afterwards so that it fits better.
Advantage of top plaster first: well,... the plasterers can't cause as much damage because they have to work on scaffolding due to the room height. Completely shutting off from the dirt.

I’m curious about your opinions! :-)

First clean, then walls and ceilings, then floor, then doors, then moldings. Moldings last! Some say to install moldings only after a year because of settlement cracks.

If the tiling does not go up to the ceiling, first tile the wall and then level the plaster to the thickness of the tiles. I do it this way; it just looks better. Tiles are durable. If you are worried, you can tape them off.

First there was plaster, then screed, then came tiles, then we came with filler, sanding, fiberglass, latex. In the end the doors and the baseboards, only those from the tiles were already in place, he cut those out of tiles. Then he sealed everything, he was an artist at that.

With us, tiling was done first and then plastering. The plasterer was absolutely great and had taped everything perfectly, which of course was charged on an hourly basis. But it was still worth the money. Not a single defect on the tiles and the advantage was that the plasterer could nicely plaster the baseboards.

Classically, first plaster, then screed, and finally all coverings. This is the simplest and cheapest option. All other variations require neater work and incur additional costs.
