The surface temperature of the ceiling is therefore about 21 degrees warm in the heated area. In the unheated area (i.e. where the roof terrace is above), the surface temperature of my ceiling is only just 17 degrees warm.

Well, that with a floor slab transitioning from the warm (interior) to the cold area without insulators, the phenomenon would be different, namely the classic cold bridge.
