Good evening,

You don't have much choice but to hire an expert; no one here will be able to give you advice, because that would be unprofessional.

Actually, I just wanted to know if anyone else is familiar with this problem and how it progressed there. I will have to live with it anyway, because an expert report will probably only detect a fault in the ceiling insulation or in the ceiling structure, and this will probably be very expensive or very difficult to fix.

Hello,
That will certainly be the case! Did it never actually occur to you to consult a professional before you signed the purchase contract?

Best regards

The only question that arises for me is what a professional could have noticed beforehand? We were also in the house multiple times, but no one moved around on different floors and paid attention to whether anything could be heard. Even a professional would not have noticed anything there, I am very sure of that. It was only after about 2 weeks that we noticed for the first time, because there were guests in the basement bar and I went to get something from upstairs. So how could one have noticed that during a viewing, whether with or without a professional?

I understand your problem. Does it often happen that people are talking on different levels and feel disturbed by you? Or is it more of a theoretical question?

@ Schubert79
we live in the house with our family, but still it’s not so great to hear everything. Problems would increase if we ever rented it out.
@ €uro
well, a remark like that really helps me. I am 1000% sure that no one would have noticed this mistake. I have talked to some of my acquaintances and those of the previous owner, some of whom are the same people, and no one has noticed anything in all these years. Of course, none of them are highly trained experts with the exceptional ability to hear things upstairs while they are downstairs. You obviously have to learn that first at some university.
