Hello everyone,

I know my title is ambiguous I initially wanted to write Toilet Cartel, but that wouldn’t be nearly as funny. We have received a first offer for the sanitary equipment. And it really blew my mind. I had previously researched the prices on the internet very carefully for the things I would like to have. I do not see any reason to pay 980€ in this offer for a washbasin that I can buy on the internet for 250€! That’s over 300% more? Where does this price, or these prices in general, come from? I understand: the manufacturer wants to make a profit, the sanitary outfitter and finally the installer... but isn’t there any way to get these things cheaper that the installer installs for me? I just don’t understand why we should pay a total surcharge of 7700€ for a few items that we want to have differently. Our general contractor doesn’t care where we go for the sanitary rooms, so he’s not tied to this one outfitter. How did you handle it? Just paid this surcharge? Or did someone dare to organize and have these things installed themselves? Thank you in advance for your tips!

You're building with [GU], right? 30% might be okay.. but at 300% I would definitely take action and, if necessary, have it installed myself.

Regards, Steffen

Exactly Steffen, with GU. We were told that no installer will install equipment we sourced ourselves because of the warranty...?

We bought it ourselves, partially installed it ourselves (WC/sink/basin faucet are really not rocket science), partially had it installed by the plumber (shower completely).

Another possibility would be not to obtain these via the GÜ, but possibly through the installer?
