Hello dear community!
A few months ago I came across this forum and now I have to say that I am very glad about it. There is so much information and input here, things that "normal" people don’t even think about when buying/building a house.
First about us: I am 27, still on parental leave, from February when our little son turns 1 year old I will be working full time again. My husband is 35 and became self-employed in August. We live at Lake Constance, on the Swiss border. Before his self-employment we earned a net income of 4300€ together and thought that we could easily buy/build with that. Now we know that our equity of just over 40,000€ would barely cover ancillary construction costs or even property acquisition tax. In our circle of friends and acquaintances, loans of 300,000 are being taken out actively and I fear that their projects will go badly wrong with the limited knowledge they have now. No equity, wedding or children are still planned, car loans, leasing rates etc.
My husband has now dared the step to self-employment, we are already satisfied. In a few years one can say more. Until then we will work hard, save and maybe we will also be allowed to call ourselves building owners one day. I definitely now know that not everyone can afford a house and doesn’t have to!
Best regards
