The boxes have unfortunately already been disposed of, and the company will only bring new ones when they start with the terrace. So I could only tell you the type in a few weeks. You definitely need ones higher than ours.

You glued the pedestal supports onto the construction protection mat?

Only at the beginning and the end. Thus additional protection against slipping.

Oh, right! The slabs have been newly laid on a gravel bed at our place. Gravel was removed and re-compacted.

So far, top.

The tall pedestals on balconies and such are okay, but I don't like that hollow, muffled sound when you walk on it.

If you use pedestal supports, you are more flexible later on to lay pipes or cables underneath again. With laying on a gravel bed, this no longer works. Another advantage is that you can always readjust later. If there is an existing concrete slab, I would definitely recommend pedestal supports. And yes, the quality differences are enormous here. You should not use the cheapest crap from eBay.
