Hello,
we are currently thinking about the windows in our kitchen.
It’s about the windows at the bottom of the plan, in that corner there will be the terrace (or possibly a conservatory sometime in the future).
A sliding door and next to it a narrow fixed element with a hinged door beside it are drawn in.
However, we are considering if it could be solved better in another way.
For example, the window fitter suggested a sliding door along the entire wall (that would be about 4m in total). Has anyone had experience with such a large sliding door, the sliding part would then be about 2m? Isn’t it very heavy to slide?
Or does anyone have a completely different idea?
I have also attached an exterior view.
The windows above could possibly also be changed. The right one is fixed, it cannot be moved or enlarged. The others would be variable.
I am open to anything. It is just important to me that I definitely have a floor-to-ceiling window in the kitchen ; )

My parents have a long window front to the balcony in their living room (probably also 4m) consisting of a 3-part folding door and a normal tilt-and-turn door. This allows the entire front to be opened if needed. However, it is only used very rarely.

Just by the way... The floor plan is very promising! And no, a 2m sliding door is not difficult to operate! And a 4m front looks great! Although I would keep the window widths uniform... So the window on the right in the kitchen and the two wide ones in the living room around the corner! For the last three, I would choose the same 3m wide sliding door! Although you have to know that curtains are more complicated on such windows!

We have in our current rental house an approximately four-meter-wide lift-and-slide door, or two meters of the lift-and-slide door and two meters of the fixed element. The door is easy to operate. We like it so much that we have planned the same for the new house. I only see advantages in it (except for the price)...

A sliding curtain with a running carriage is perfect for that. Curtains are out anyway! In 5 seconds everything is opaque and, if necessary, the entire front is open.

Well, as always, it's all a matter of taste, isn't it?!
