Terrace Bankirai outside, what is the distance between the wooden planks?

Hello,

we have classic Bangkirai grooved wood on the outside and want to replace it with the smooth version. Just at the specialty store, it was about the spacing of the individual woods. We would like to place them closer together. The specialist said that in the past, 3 cm was used, now it is 7 cm. These spacers are now only available in 7 cm as well.

What spacing do you have? We had the wider version and it really bothered us.

Either I misunderstand you or you mean millimeters? With my balcony floorboards, it is 3-5 mm

yes sorry :) mm with us sometimes 1-1.5 cm was installed... now I have seen spacers of 4 mm

Yes, 1-1.5 cm would be too much for me as well. 0.7 cm I would have to consider, but I understand you. I didn't do my balcony decking here myself (condominium from the developer), but I doubt anyone used a spacer here. Are they really necessary? Can't you just cut them yourself from suitable strips? Are they only for installation or do they always stay in? I ask such silly questions because I will have to build a terrace at the house someday...

Spacer for wood is removed again once the planks are screwed in, with WPC the clips remain in place
