With kitchen cabinets, I believe you immediately, because usually the kitchen is not assembled by oneself and the installers know exactly how to fasten something. But I am not an installer, and with regard to simplicity, as already written above, a wall is ideal that can accommodate a wide range of fastening materials.
OK, if there really are people who build a house and can no longer even buy a pack of the right dowels at the hardware store themselves (which usually lasts for years...), then you are right. But then you have to consistently do without all other materials... drywall covering.. uh evil. Drywall walls.... very dangerous, wood...
