That probably has more to do with upbringing, whether you immediately jump in with "your" question in a forum or first look around to see if this question already exists. The post counter only records the posts written; I have read about five times as many.

So as a manufacturer, I have read a lot of good things about Zehnder and Helios, but the best technology is worthless if it is not well planned and installed. This means that the craftsman and the planning are also important.

In terms of quality, they are all similar. The difference is basically only in the additional features and the software. The fans are often from Helios and Papst, no matter who put their label on the unit. Otherwise, it is just sheet metal, styrofoam, and a control system.

Based on the sizes/type/dimensions of the heat exchangers and the configuration of the system, it is usually possible to deduce the original manufacturer.

I just found out that you can compare various ventilation systems at the European Test Center for Residential Ventilation Units e.V. with their data. They also have a cost calculator. I got to the link via the consumer advice center's page "Lüftungsanlage: Worauf es bei der Planung ankommt." And on the test center’s page, they also have a Q&A collection "10 Fragen zu Lüftung." The information there is probably somewhat outdated. Maybe one of you professionals can take a look to see if much of it is still valid and if it is recommended.
