Hi,

No, it really isn’t. It actually looks quite appealing, and above all, you can also unhook the sail. Filling my garden with some kind of pillars would be out of the question for me. Such a sun sail has to be flexible for us, after all, we basically want sun on the terrace and in the living room...

But to each their own!

Best regards,

Andreas

We have also initially decided on a traffic light umbrella. We can easily open and close it depending on the weather conditions. Additionally, we can first gain experience with the sun’s position at different times of the year and day, so that we can later look for the optimal solution for us.

Exactly, to each their own.

However, a professional sun sail is absolutely waterproof, so you can sit outside even in the rain (definitely useful this summer ), translucency can be chosen, as well as UV protection. In an emergency, the sail can be unhooked and stored in three minutes. But it costs many times as much. Buying twice is, as always, twice as expensive...

We had the sail tailored by hofsaess-sonnenschutz back then – but there are also various other shops online, although I have no experience with them. Alternatively, you can also go to a sailmaker (but they were more expensive, the fabrics are identical). Hofsäß custom-makes the sail and also supplies matching stainless steel accessories (D-rings, ropes, etc.); we requested some fabric samples and chose from them.

We had the posts made from stainless steel by a local metalworker.

So, here is the feedback:

True to the motto "Who buys cheap, buys twice," "we" ordered a cheap cantilever umbrella and will see how it works out...

Hi, I bought our cantilever umbrella about 4 or 5 years ago at Lidl for 49 €. It has held up perfectly until today, no holes, not faded, everything great!

Cheap is often, but not always junk, sometimes it definitely serves its purpose...

Best regards,

Andreas
