hello everyone,

for our single-family house, an energy saving regulation was calculated according to the requirements of 2007.

now in this energy saving regulation it says "The summer heat protection is fulfilled according to DIN 4108-2:2003-07 Section 8."

where can I find the section in the energy saving regulation where the summer heat protection is calculated? or does the developer have to provide me with a calculation?

the temperatures in the house are very high from March onwards. in the attic during the day around 30 degrees with peak values of 36. in the upper floor not quite as bad but also clearly above 26 degrees, peaks up to 32. even on the ground floor we have over 30 on many days.

thank you very much for an answer

Hello,

The general contractor probably forgot that. Usually, the proof of summer thermal protection is part of the Energy Saving Ordinance proof for the construction project. However, it is treated rather negligently by the Energy Saving Ordinance, so this document is not very valuable. You are always on the safe side if passive constructive options are already utilized during planning and, analogous to the heating load calculation, a cooling load calculation is performed. However, when you address this with builders, most save themselves the expenses with the result that they now sweat or have to spend money on technical cooling.

Best regards

hello euro,

thank you very much for the answer.
we would have gladly paid for a cooling load calculation, but unfortunately no one offered it to us. according to the home builder, there should be no problems in summer.

is the proof of the [SoWS] mandatory or just a "can"?

best regards

Hello,
The fact that this is actually not true can be seen quite clearly here. :( In the contract with the general contractor, it is 100% certain that it does not say: " ... during the summer heat period, room temperatures < 24°C are maintained...."!
Well, a formal proof is indeed available, quote: "The summer thermal protection is fulfilled according to DIN 4108-2:2003-07 Section 8." Unfortunately, your example clearly shows that this is virtually worthless
General contractor projects are mostly only cheap; permanent low consumption costs for heating, hot water, and indoor climate of the builder are not the focus! I am fairly certain that for your construction project, neither a heat load calculation, heat surface dimensioning, nor a consumption forecast is available, not to mention the summer thermal protection (cooling load calculation)!
If the necessity of technical cooling to achieve acceptable room temperatures during the summer heat period were included in the primary energy balance in this case, the construction project would incur dramatically high consumption costs.

Best regards,

NB: The majority of builders build with a general contractor because it apparently is "cost-effective," the nasty surprises (money pits) mostly come later when hardly anything can be changed anymore!

hello,

thank you very much.
it's not that bad. a heating load calculation was carried out.
the consumption values are okay, although not outstandingly good.
with 250m2 of usable area and a lot of window area, about 520 euros.
the heating system is a Tecalor air-water heat pump with controlled ventilation.

I think the window area is the problem in summer.
of course, it gets expensive with active cooling.

affordable is relative; we did not choose the cheapest one.
still, some other areas were sloppy.

best regards

hello, I set the bivalence point from -5 to -9 and will probably lower it further. when the immersion heater turns on, I can also heat the house with the waste heat from the electricity meter :) best regards
