Subsidy for air-to-air heat pumps AND air-to-water heat pumps

Hello everyone,

I hope I can get some advice here because there is no reasonable statement on this. I have an existing gas boiler. As a transitional solution, I would like to have an electrically operated air-heating heat pump (air/air) with a standard-compliant inspection installed this year.

As soon as electrically operated water-heating heat pumps (air/water) for my central heating are available again and I can then retire my existing gas boiler, I would like to do that as well.

Question: Is it possible to apply now for the air/air heat pump (for the 35% subsidy) and then submit another application for the air/water heat pump intended for my central heating (also with a 35% subsidy)? Or do I have to combine the air/air and the air/water heat pumps in one application with a subsidy amount of preferably €60,000? I would then have to wait a long time for the payment of the first invoice (for the air/air heat pump) until both are installed.

I am just afraid of losing the chance of the subsidy for the air/water heat pump if I only apply for the air/air heat pump now. The costs for that are considerably higher.

Many thanks – I am grateful for any advice.

Since the details have changed several times since I applied, I am cautious with statements.

But as far as I know, there is only one chance. Even though you suggest it that way, I would not do it - you have a limited time to implement it (back then it was one year). Once the time is up, there is nothing anymore.

So either install the air conditioning at your own expense or wait.

As I said, since my information may have changed, I recommend you read what [Bafa] offers on the subject. It is easy to understand and easy to find.

So it does seem that something has indeed changed. Here is an excerpt from the current BAFA information sheet:

The BEG EM is a two-stage funding process and is composed as follows: Stage 1 (application stage) begins with the submission of the application and ends with the receipt of the grant notice. With the grant notice, the funding for the applicant is bindingly reserved for the approval period of 24 months. The period can be extended upon request before the implementation deadline expires. The request for an extension must be submitted in writing without formalities and must be plausibly justified.

Accordingly, I have 2 years for implementation and optionally I can even extend by another year. My current tendency is to apply for the split air conditioning system and the heat pump together in one application - that should be safe then.

Two more questions: 1. Is an offer for the items absolutely necessary? I currently only have an offer for the split air conditioning system but not yet for a heat pump (which is actually pointless, as no price guarantees or anything else are currently available). Can I still submit the application with a funding amount of 60,000? 2. What happens if I apply for the split air conditioning system and heat pump together but then only install one of them? Can I still claim the funding for the one installed?

Firstly: An offer is no longer necessary (information from last week). Secondly: You can always do less afterward. Just not more.

PS: Nice that it is now time-flexible. Otherwise, it would hardly be manageable at the moment. PSS: Discuss the heat pump here in the forum beforehand. There are many good tips flying around here! ;-)

Yes, I am already diligently reading here, including old threads, and I am enthusiastic about the tips and help here.

I will then submit an application to the BAFA for the climate device and the heat pump together.

One more question though :)
I have to specify the model of the heat pump in the application. Most likely this will also change. As far as I have read so far, this is not a problem if the model or brand changes (as long as it is eligible for funding). But you want to be on the safe side, so I prefer to ask again.
60,000 (so the maximum amount) is also okay to apply for – they don’t fuss about that?

There is a list on the Bafa website with the eligible pumps. It has to be one of those. If something changes between the application and the execution (type of pump), I believe this is not decisive. Unfortunately, I do not know if they are picky about the maximum amount. I have simply added a flat €5000 to the quote from my plumber and applied for that. As correctly mentioned: deductions are always possible, but if it costs more, there is unfortunately no additional funding. And yes, there are many good tips in the forum on the topic of heat pumps. But question everything critically. Not every tip makes sense. I don’t exclude my own from that either.
